Welcoming Rosie to the Pancake team!

Welcoming Rosie to the Pancake team!

"I" became "We" this month as I welcomed my very first employee to the Pancake office which simultaneously made me feel grown-up, as well as somewhat old and anxious at my new serving of responsibility! Rosie (pictured above, eating a festive mince pie!) joined me late last month to lend a much-needed hand with packing orders and writing your cards and she has quickly got to grips with my relaxed grasp of the alphabetization of stock here at PanakeHQ! She's also a whiz with the ol' biro and her handwriting is blummin lovely, which is a Good Thing because she's already written over 150 cards in the last 4 weeks alone!

It's certainly an interesting year to be taking on staff members! We're 'masked up' in the office and work with the window open as well as adhering to all the usual social distancing measures, some would say it's far from an ideal situation but since I've been almost packing orders in my sleep since April (with a short lull in the summer!), it's been my best decision for months to hire some help! Our new office routine remains quite similar to when I was on my own: packing orders, answering customer queries, and drinking cups of tea (me) and coffee (Rosie)! We're listening to a lot of Radio 4 these days (Rosie's preference) and occasional Adam Buxton podcasts (I like a good Ramble Chat!). It's been really nice to have someone in the office to talk to at long last as I was beginning to forget the art of conversation!

So yeah, this is just a little heads up to say that you'll probably start seeing order notes signed by Rosie as well as Claire from now on, it's an exciting step for me as a business owner, and one I definitely didn't think I'd be doing in January of this year! S'been a funny ol' year, hasn't it!?
