What size are your greeting cards?
At The Curious Pancake, the majority of our greeting cards are a standard A6 size. A6 is roughly 10 x 15 cm as shown in the image below. A6 cards can be posted with a normal first or second class stamp.
We also have square cards, mini cards and odd-shaped die cut cards! The majority of our card listings should have the size of the card listed in the product description. If you cannot see the dimensions of your card in the product description, please click on the INFORMATION tab next to the product description and this will show you the width and height of your card.
How soon will I get my card?
We post out all orders via Royal Mail on a daily basis Mon-Fri. The cut-off for same day dispatch is 2pm. Although 93% of all Royal Mail first class UK post arrives the next working day, this is not a guaranteed service. If you want to make sure your card will arrive on a specific date we recommend using our Next Day Delivery service, which can also be guaranteed for Saturday for an extra fee.
Can I buy from you over the phone?
We can currently only take orders through our website.
Can you delay sending my card until a specific date?
Whilst we'd love to offer this service, it's not possible for us to do this at the moment. We can, however, write a message to your recipient on the envelope that says "Do not open until [specified date]" If you'd like us to do this for you, please leave a message in the notes box at checkout and we will sort this for you at no extra cost.
Can I pick my order up in person?
As we don't have any customer-friendly premises we're unable to offer local pick-ups. We can send your order Next Day Delivery if it's urgent though. As long as you place your order before 2pm and select Next Day Delivery we can get it to you for the next working day before 1pm (or Saturday if you select Next Day Delivery SAT). Please note that someone has to be at the address to sign for the package.
PayPal's being weird and I can't complete the checkout!
PayPal is sometimes weird! My suggested work-around is: open a new incognito tab and start the order again, quite often this gets rid of whatever glitch was occurring. You can also pay by credit card on our secure checkout if you are having trouble accessing PayPal.
Help! I need to change my order!
If you urgently need to alter something on your order and you're purchasing between the hours of 9am-5pm, give us a call on 0115 952 2632 and, if we can, we'll try and sort it for you. Out of hours you can email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com and we'll endeavour to set things right.
I really don't like the plastic that the cards come in, can you send my card without plastic?
We don't like the plastic either! We're working with our suppliers to try and reduce (and, in many cases, totally eliminate) the plastic packaging that we receive cards in. I'm delighted to be able to tell you that Stormy Knight, Ohh Deer, Woodmansterne, 1973, Egg Press, Paper Bird, Woah There Pickle, Claire Senior and Card Nest all now supply "naked cards" or cards without cello bags. We're working on the others, and we're also working through our existing stock of cello bagged cards, so we appreciate your patience whilst we become as eco-friendly as we possibly can. If you want no plastic in your order at all, please drop us a message in your checkout notes and we'll make sure your order is 100% plastic-free.
Why do you stock foiled cards? I thought these were bad for the environment?
We will only stock foiled cards if they have 30% or less foiled elements on them. Cards with small foiled elements on can still be recycled. We are no longer buying any cards with glitter on (unless it's bioglitter - a plant-based 100% biodegradable glitter).
I produce my own cards and I think they should be on your site too, who do I contact?
Thanks for your interest in stocking with us! Please contact us on the email firstname.lastname@example.org in the first instance and send us some images of your cards. Please ask before posting us any samples.
I've got some ideas for designs, are you interested?
We're more interested in finished designs that have already been professionally printed onto greeting cards. We don't buy ideas or prose and we cannot at present take any interns or work experience placements. Hopefully this may change in the future!
Can you give me some feedback on my art?
We cannot give feedback on individual submissions but we are working on a FAQ for illustrators with useful tips and info, so watch this space as the link will appear here when it's live!
